léo caillard‘s photography seems gimmicky at first and it is only when one investigates the rest of his oeuvre that one realizes the dualities and contrast that are integral to his work. his work is a commentary on our modern age juxtaposed against the images of nature and the past; confronting the values that are attributed and accepted from a contemporary perspective. his exercise with ‘dressing-up’ classical statuary is perhaps amusing, but to me the anachronisms point to a more interesting aspect; the ever-changing perceptions of fashion and beauty.
