frank perry’s 1968 hallucinatory movie ‘the swimmer’, starring the busky burt lancaster, has been one of my favorites for nearly ever, which might have influenced my praise for steven klein’s l.a. portfolio starring chad white; a dedication to the beautiful-strange. the combined effect of sinister and decadent comes alive in this theatrical portrayal which brims with an off-beat all-star cast while the narrative excites the suspensive plot of the original film. a brilliant integration of fashion, art, cinema and photography although i continue to believe the artistic migration is always a literary inspired journey.
