it seems that stellar designer/director tom ford just can’t shake the retro-glam of his movie ‘a single man’. this f/w collection is a rusty palette of neutralic browns and bronzes. plaids and heavy cable knits mostly define the pattern selection with furs punctuating both footwear and outerwear. in itself the collection is not entirely unimaginative, considering the fact that it caters for a reasonably conservative luxury market segment. i do however feel that the heavily stylized aspirational look that takes it’s cue from sixties corner-office nostalgia, may be a little on the tweedy side for me. the casual incorporated into the collection comes across as a bit of an afterthought but as a refreshing juxtaposition extends the office(y) style into the great outdoors… i must say that i enjoy the dressy f(j)ord look though… executive-viking meets savile row.
