matthew stone‘s photographic artistry on the arts and fashion scene has been acutely prevalent in my mind… with installations and exhibitions ironically called : unconditional commitment to sacred love, optimism as cultural rebellion and body language he has revived a romance of flesh that goes beyond the mere depiction of entangled anatomies. his sensitive layering of imagery is marked by further manipulating perspectives… he prints on various materials and add a different dimension to the work by presenting it as sculptural. with works provocatively called : ways of becoming each other he transcends the nudity in art that often only has a static or voyeuristic element; in the compositions of stone’s work i find a dynamism that draws on the familiar and imperfect. it allows the viewer to enjoy the contrasts of flesh and contemplate the dichotomies of social togetherness… pushing towards a dialogue of understanding our simultaneous differences.
