sometimes it’s easy to spot passion; as in the case of vincenzo de cotiis‘s ‘pop nouveau’ show at the carpenters workshop gallery. his work questions so many of my current rich-man-poor-man design sentiments and is right on cue with tangibility and texture. although the generated decay of material is by design, his pieces nonetheless express a used luxury which is ultra refined; think of it as gloria guinness the day after the night before, slightly worn but still glamorous.
this is the kind of expressive furnishing that is making it’s mark in the over commercialised sphere of interior design; consciously passionate, imperfect and desirable.
