i always enjoy seeing the budding of new talent. ximon lee‘s inspired graduate collection may consciously borrow from a more mainstream fashion trend but it maintains a strength of its own. reverently irreverent is how i would describe it; the construction is deliberately visible and unfinished while decoration is kept to fatigued bands of pattern. the survivalist themes are strengthened by the oriental silhouette with the disposable nature of modern urban street life echoed in the textured fabrics and clever use of denim. the true the power of the layering is further accentuated by an up-scaling of simple panels which are connected with metallic zips to create a metamorphic warrior like quality emphasising the distinct shapes to create a sharp, defensive wearability which successfully transforms into an elegant urban origami.
