my weakness for design nostalgia brought me here… i just finished the history of ‘la maison de verre’ so there. put together with my passion for metamorphic furnishings, pierre chareau’s designs struck an obvious chord. his neo-industrial-glam look is a refreshing departure from traditionalist highborn deco pieces. although the silhouettes and functionality appeals to me most, even when most components in the design are metal, the pieces never get that hard-edged severity of some of the modernist designs, retaining a certain casual sensuality which i appreciate.
