i get such a kick from ash white’s escapist illustrations and manipulations. his introductions to some fantastical visual narrative is more like dreamscapes than landscapes. it provides the viewer with a clue to some imagined situation. there is a vague connection of remembrance and forgetting here, the blending of nostalgic imagery with past people, places and scenery. it probes in a sense how our dreams might be constructed, the bits and pieces coming together to tell an important story. this dream making element is what makes white’s work so attractively mesmerising.
