i’ve always been a bit of a collaboration queen, and although i subscribe to the ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’ sentiment, i believe that two heads are better than one. especially when it comes to media and brand identities. the signature look vs tired old recipe is often a difficult terrain and it is when an interpretive approach is necessary to discern the one from the other. the teller / jacobs collaboration strikes me as one that succeeds in overcoming this contradiction. sometimes great talents can cancel out one another and sometimes they merely combine with each other, but here there is a serious complementary synergy that is memorable without being nostalgic and smart without being clever… in my opinion it brings more than the best of both together.
