in an air of crystalline fog… that is where one must search for the spiritually evocative garmentry of sruli recht. the poetic and ethereal imagery removes one completely from commercialism and instead transports you to a place beyond fashion. an ancient neolithic void seems to become the source of inspiration and the icelandic landscape’s sparseness erupts in a cornucopia of texture and design… brilliantly conceived, each collection retains a simplicity that is beyond deconstruction, it is invention… an invention that harks back to the roots of humanity. a natural geometry and spontaneity envelops the work which has a quietly refined hunter-gatherer quality about it. this primitivist departure is embodied through techniques and materials that complete the metaphor of man and nature’s synergies: spider silk, skunk fur, wood fibre, lava stone and more unusual perhaps still born lamb’s and dolphin skin, even glass shoes seemingly cut from some geological mineral. i find the work a sensational reminder of our time and place and an unforgettable anthropologic picture of our past and future…
