although i’m not really one for colder climates, i might consider this beautifully sensitive renovation of the la muna chalet in the red mountain of aspen, colorado by oppenheim architecture. renowned for their excellent work in seeking connectivity with nature and chilly though the scenery might be, the glazed inside-outside connection is spectacular; local woods and stones make up the rest of it allowing for plenty natural light to flood in. i particularly like the angularity of the hot-tub and other reflective surfaces playing against the landscape. although the interior is not quite me, i can totally get with the simple comfort meets harsh natural setting thing…
