the dapper gentlemanly look has been simmering long enough to break out into full bloom and every well bred son would have learnt from his father how to wear such an accessory. unfortunately i had to gain this knowledge from elsewhere since my father could hardly knot a tie and growing up in the countryside, there wasn’t much use for such a thing unless you wanted to use it to wipe the blood after an inevitable brawl with some of the ruggedly farm boy types. needless to say i grew up thinking the only men who wore silk were the emperors in china. being my fashion irreverent self, i’ve been wearing all sorts of silky shawls and shit for years already with no regard for the proper way to tie it; i therefore thought it prudent to prevent others making similar mistakes or spectacles of themselves. major brands are currently producing seriously attractive ones but most are still hung-up on traditional print designs. vintage stores still hold more unexpected finds from has been dandy’s and hipster-daddies… i do believe the term is - swanky…
