the offerings of italian artist nicola samorì beams with the light of passion despite their sombre circumstance. drawing from his native heritage, he circumvents the simply figurative depictions and instead allow something darker to surface from the stylized imagery. alternating between canvas, wood and copper his portraits remain technical masterpieces while his imagery remain elusively incomplete… alluding to that intimate emptiness of that which is unfinished. ironically his reactionary attitudes speak through the disfiguring, scratching of surfaces and the destruction of his own magical and religious poetic sensibilities.
