as far as i know only sex and death never goes out of fashion and it perfectly resonates with the warped realities of our society. not to get into the quagmire of the portrayal of masculinity but suffice it to say that male fashion photography has since matured into the mainstream and although i’m not all for the mutilated look (i prefer my men healthy and whole) i particularly admire the renaissance-like sensitivity from arno roca’s series ‘human waiste’ and alberto rugolotto’s ‘decadence’ starring sasha marini; both photo spreads beautifully portraying the tender existential vulnerabilities of men against their inherent brutality, fears and violence…
