it seems that the french have found their alternative to the tate’s turbine hall and as usual it has to be a bar above the rest. i first saw her work as part of the berardo collection in lisbon but portuguese artist joana vasconcelos‘s contemporary handcrafted artworks has found the ideal place in versailles for commentary on modern social dichotomies and display of cultural displacement, class distinctions and identity. muitos parabéns!

Since it’s nearly impossible to gauge each individual’s level of sensitivity or stupidity, I’d rather play it safe and classify this site as suitable for adults only. Although that term is still nebulous to me, the responsibility remains that of the viewer.
